An Introduction to CBT 28th January, 10.00-4.30, £70 Facilitator: Andy Williams PTSTA UKCP This workshop is designed to equip the practitioner with some early CBT tools for immediate application into practice. By the end of the day you won’t be a CBT therapist but you will be armed with some new CBT techniques. We will not be spending a lot of time looking at the history of CBT, rather exploring some key treatment concepts and then applying them to clinical examples brought by the group. The learning outcomes for the day include understanding a CBT formulation in the here-and-now (cross-sectional), across time (longitudinal) and some key cognitive and behavioural treatment techniques.

Risk Assessment and Suicide Defendable not Defensive Practice 31st March, 10.00-4.30, £70 Facilitator: Andy Williams PTSTA UKCP For many therapists the thought of one of their clients killing themselves is a terrible or frightening concept. Having worked for many years in both NHS and private practice Andy Williams has experienced deaths and near misses associated with both these settings. This workshop was first presented at the North East Regional TA Conference at York and is aimed to support the professional in getting their systems and processes in place, in order to give clients the best possible support and to offer the practitioner a sense of safety and holding (we matter too!). This intensive workshop will consider differing ways of assessing risk and conceptualization of the suicidal act. Some video material will also be presented.
